In addition to the obvious text and visuals, the site is chock full of linked information on cocoa and its health benefits. Whenever there is a change of font weight or colour, there is a colour coded link to more information available with just a click.
Our reason for being is primarily to exploit our precious cocoa beans and to make as many unique and beneficial products from them, instead of simply exporting the beans. This way the value is retained and shared by those who deserve more, such as the farmers and producers of primary cocoa products: beans, nibs, powder and butter.
To do this a little bit of history comes in handy.
We begin by exploring the benefits of cocoa consumption and its effect on the body. After all, cocoa consumption is not just about chocolate bars and bon bons, cocoa has been consumed for thousands of years, both as a healthy drink and for its unique taste.
Modern consumers of cocoa and chocolate are leaning towards exploiting the health and other benefits of this valuable plant. Cocoa and chocolate consumption have ballooned to the point of obsession, but what are the best ways to use this valuable commodity.
Most cocoa is consumed as chocolate bars or some form of chocolate flavoured product including beverages. At the Cocoa Pod we produce a range of culinary products, including of course chocolate bars, bon bons, beverages and even cocoa liqueur. We use as much of the precious fruit as possible so that as many of the health benefits are realized by the consumer, when a range of our products are utilized either individually or in combination.
The benefits of cocoa are not limited to products to be ingested however, as cocoa butter has been shown to have several positive effects on the body when used topically. As a result we have also created a skincare line of several products based on a micro-emulsion of cocoa butter and coconut oil for external use. The whole plant for the whole body.
For now, most of our products are only available in our shop at 23 Gordon St., in Port of Spain, Trinidad, as well as the gourmet shops that carry some of them, such as the Mode Alive store in Valsayn, Trinidad. However we will make most of them available for online purchase with local delivery included, in the very near future.
